Leo M. Rozmaryn, M.D., is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon, with specialized fellowship training in reconstructive surgery of the hand and microvascular surgery. He also has a special interest in performing arts medicine. A native of New York City, Dr. Rozmaryn graduated from Queens College in 1977. He was the recipient of the Arthur Colwin Award for Academic Achievement in Biology, and the City University of New York’s Dr. Jonas E. Salk Scholarship. In 1981, he concluded his medical school training at the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University, New York. After fulfilling six years of surgical and orthopaedic training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Dr. Rozmaryn completed a combined fellowship training in hand and microvascular surgery at the Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center/New York Orthopaedic Hospital in New York City. Dr. Rozmaryn has attained the highest distinction in his specialty as a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and as an elected active member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. He is also a member of the American Association for Hand Surgery as well as a President of the National Capital Society for Surgery of the Hand, and Adjunct Assistant Professor at Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland.   Board Certified in orthopaedics and recertified with additional qualifications for surgery of the hand. Dr Rozmaryn is currently Chief of Orthopaedics at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital.

Dr. Rozmaryn has developed a keen interest in performing arts medicine; he is an elected member of the Performing Arts Medical Association and been selected as a member of Maryland State Committee for Medicine and the Performing Arts. Since 1990, Dr. Rozmaryn has served on the Advisory Board of the Music Medicine Clearing House. Dr. Rozmaryn enjoys teaching and has lectured both at regional and national meetings. He has also given a series of interviews on WGMS radio. He has lectured to the medical students at Howard University, Georgetown University, and the Bethesda Naval Hospital, as well as many other institutions and universities in the Washington area. Dr. Rozmaryn has published many articles on hand problems in general and those specific to performing artists. He has authored a chapter on “The Aging Wrist” in Geriatric Orthopaedic Evaluation (1993) and “The Hand” in the Glossary of Orthopaedic Terminology 6th Ed. (2006). Among his interests are workplace ergonomics. He has developed a system for workplace evaluation and a non-operative method for treating Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Dr. Rozmaryn is currently developing new methodologies for the study of motor strength in the hand that may lead to significant changes in standard diagnostic methodology and has secured a patent for his inventions in this area.   He has also developed innovative techniques in micro-arthroscopy in the study of small joints of the hand. An avid reader, Dr. Rozmaryn is a history buff, and enjoys outdoor activities such as skiing, tennis and cycling.   He is very involved with his community in Silver Spring, where he lives with his wife and three children.
